Keynote Joseph Pine II on Mobile Monday

January 22nd, 2008 by Patrice

Joseph Pine II is a renowned writer. His writings include books like

  • Mass customization,
  • The Experience Economy: Work Is Theatre and Every Business a Stage
  • Authenticity: What Consumers Really Want

Yesterday he spoke at Mobile Monday in Amsterdam.

This keynote consisted of two parts, the first was about ‘Authenticity’ in which he explained that people want to experience the real stuff (hence authenticity). And that this will drive the next economic wave.

The second part was an impressive summary of all the worlds we tend to live in. He explained that like there’s a world of tangible stuff and there’s a world of bits ‘n bytes (non-tangible), there must also be worlds without a time line and worlds without space. And then he went on to make all eight possible combinations (for instance a non-tangible world, with time-line and with space). And he finishes off the very interesting conceptualization of these worlds with clear examples.

It is way too difficult to explain it here in a couple of lines, but make MoMo will post the video on youtube or on their site.
